Targeted Fellowships in High Priority Research Areas
The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (CBE) proposes to increase recruitment of high quality graduate students in two growing research areas: sustainability and drug delivery. These are areas where the CBE department already has a competitive advantage and track record.
The College of Engineering has taken a number of sustainaibilty efforts and expanded them through a college-wide effort. This is consistent with the University's recent emphasis in this area. See: http://www.news-releases.uiowa.edu/2008/april/042208mason-sustainability.html.
Interested students should apply for graduate admission to CBE and note in their personal statement a desire to be considered for the fellowship. Students selected for the fellowship will receive a first year fellowship of $3,000 above the standard CBE stipend. Contact Charles Stanier (cstanier@engineering.uiowa.edu) for more information.
The four most recent faculty hires in the CBE department have been in either drug delivery or in environmental sustainability.
